Welcome to the President Message Page
It’s July and the 2011 Penntec conference seems a distant memory. Even with the change in Board positions, the management of this association never seems to slow down. The administrative constants have a lot to do with that. Thank you Sue, Cindy and your staff.
In speaking with my predecessors, I have become keenly aware that although full of enthusiasm for the coming year, reality requires focus on achievable goals. We all have lists and ideas for improving ourselves, our work, and this Association. Ideas which have made their way onto my list have done so over the past few years and were born during meetings, conferences, and social gatherings with you and other PWEA and Section members. By no means do I take credit for the birth of any of these ideas, however I will do my best to forward their growth and development. The first of theses ideas and probably the scariest for this 56 year old who has yet to embrace the age of Facebook, Twitter, and 24 hour availability on their blackberry (I don’t own a blackberry), is the concept of providing a social network for PWEA members. The Executive Board is currently exploring service options with Triad Strategies which would help make this a reality. I feel comfortable that the young minds we have looking into this can make it happen. Secondly, the Board is exploring the expansion of the Penntec Strategic Review Session between PWEA and the Sections. This would occur at a different time and place separate and in addition to the annual PennTec conference. I believe that this can only help strengthen those bonds between PWEA and the Sections. I will be personally bringing this message to each Section before the end of this year. Third but not last, we are pursuing a second Marcellus Shale conference to be held in the first quarter of 2012 in southwestern PA. This region of the Commonwealth is currently undergoing extensive Marcellus shale exploration and production phases and many of the interested parties will be available for input and participation in a second conference.
Thank you for taking the time to read this message and ask that when the opportunity arises, discuss the ideas presented with your co-workers and peers. We need to expand these dialogs in order to know what is important to both our members and non-members whose mission may be the same as ours.
Good luck in all your endeavors and remember to have fun pursuing them.
Sincerely,
Joe Drnach
PWEA 2011/2012 President
